Flight Sim Glory

May 3, 2006 by Jared Smith

My name is Jared and I’m a flight sim junkie. I’ve been playing around with flight sims forever – since Microsoft FS 3 was released in 1988. I’ve done everything from making silly videos and writing stories to writing an operations manual for a very complex 747. It’s been a fun and educational hobby.

So the other day I’m at a military conference and Boeing has one of their military flight simulators there. Read the rest of this entry »

The Power of the Internet

Apr 27, 2006 by Jared Smith

So some guy bets his girlfriend that he can make a web site that gets lots of hits. She calls him an idiot. They fight. They make a bet. If he makes a site that gets 2 million hits, she’ll have a threesome with him and some girl of his choosing. If not, he’s still an idiot.

So he sent an e-mail to a few friends, they sent it to a few others, and so forth. It eventually ended up in my inbox and now there are loads of people helping in the effort, but he hasn’t quite reached his goal. So do your part for the degradation of society and click the link below.

UPDATE: The guy won the bet tonight at around 9PM. He got the last 100,000 hits in less than 45 minutes and he’s now quickly approaching 3 million.

Jill’s Softball Game

Apr 24, 2006 by Jared Smith

Abbie and I went to my sister Jill’s softball game today. It was nice to get off work a little early and spend so much time with Abbie. I don’t think she stopped talking for more than a minute during the entire 3 hours in the car. She spotted every truck, tractor, body of water, school bus, airplane, bird and dirt pile between home and Marsh Valley, Idaho.

On the way home, Abbie and I got into a big fight over whether “ducks” are “birdies”. Eventually I convinced her they were, though I believe she thinks that ducks that fly are a special type of super-powered duck called “duck birdies”. We had a great time and it was nice to see my mom and sisters for a little while.

Jill’s an awesome ball player and usually plays pitcher or catcher. Though her team lost both sides of the double header, she did awesome – at least for the 2.5 innings I watched. ;-)
