New Photo Gallery

A new Photo Gallery is now available at http://smithplanet.com/gallery/ or by clicking Photo Gallery to the right of this page. Managing photos on the site was becoming a pain. Well, at least that makes a good excuse for not posting any in the last little while. The gallery includes most of the old photos from the site and lots of new ones, including new ones of Abbie and some from the Smith Reunion. I’ll add more as I get time to sort through the 6 gigabytes of photos still on my hard drive. Also notice the random photos that appear on each page.

Tilt Shift Miniatures

A while back, I stumbled upon a neat Photoshop technique for making normal photos look like miniatures toy sets. The process, called tilt shift, involves blurring part of the image to trick the brain into thinking that the photo has a very small depth of field. And with such a small depth of field in focus, the mind thinks that the photo must be of a very small object. Here’s a few of my photos that I’ve modified with this technique.
