Apr 22, 2009 by Jared SmithWinter must be over, because I got my first astrophotography session of the season. Early this morning, Venus passed behind the moon. The animation below shows 10 minutes of movement until Venus and the crescent moon ‘touch’ (called an “occultation” in geek-speak).

An informal scientific study has found that at one year and 344 days the human brain cannot yet deduce that a neighbor kid swinging will suddenly reappear in the same space he was a few moments ago regardless of whether your head has now assumed that space.
In other astonishing news, our other child does NOT have a black eye.
