Tomorrow is Mary’s due date. The last nine months have flown by. We’re both a bit nervous to be having a boy, but at this point, we’re very ready for him to come. Keep an eye here in the coming days or (heaven forbid) weeks for baby pictures.
For many months, Abbie has been determined that the baby would be named Bambi. Of course Bambi is a fine name… if you’re a stripper or you are stuffed and hanging on a wall, but due to the fact that we haven’t actually decided on a real name yet, we decided Bambi was a fine in utero name.
Not to add yet another trauma to her life when the baby comes, I decided to have a talk with her about this now. I asked her what she thought of us naming the baby something other than Bambi. She sat quiet a moment, then her eyes slowly filled with tears, and then she ran off into her room slamming the door behind her to have a good cry. When she came out a few minutes later, she gave us permission to name him something else. Whew. Disaster averted. I’m sure this kid, whatever his name ends up being, will be grateful we didn’t let his big sister name him.
