Our Vacation

Nov 21, 2007 by Jared Smith

We just got back from the most amazing vacation! You know how when you get back from most vacations, you feel like you need a vacation to recover from it? Well, we had so much fun, and while we are definitely tired, we are totally fulfilled and relaxed after spending 8 wild days in Florida.

We first spent 4 days at Disney World. Abbie got to see every princess (and some of them multiple times) and most of the Disney characters. While her favorite character is Aurora (that’s Sleeping Beauty for those of you without young daughters), her next favorite is now Mr. Smee from Peter Pan. He put on a nice show while freaking out because Abbie was wearing a Tinkerbell shirt.

We got to ride almost all of the rides we wanted to. It was the off season and we hardly had to wait in any lines at all. My favorites was probably Soarin’ because Abbie absolutely loved being on it with me (and she held my hand so I wouldn’t be scared).

We then spent 4 days with Katie and Stephen in Ft. Lauderdale. My parents and Mark and Melanie joined us there. The girls went to the Seaquarium while the guys went to the NASCAR races and watched our favorite driver Jimmie Johnson win the championship. We all went to the zoo on Monday.

Overall, it was the funnest vacation I’ve ever had. The kids were awesome and we had more fun than we ever thought we would. I took A LOT of photos. A few of my favorites are below. The rest are in the gallery.

Just two more weeks and the family heads to Florida to spend a few days at Disney World before the boys head to the final NASCAR race of the season at Homestead. As I’ve written before, NASCAR is a highly difficult sport to succeed in. But in this video, a NASCAR ‘coach’ reveals the secret to success.
